The episode opens with two sailors looking into the water and spotting a barrel. From within the barrel Luffy's voice is heard yelling "Let me outta here, you stupid bastards! Outside, the sailors are trying to haul in the barrel with little success. The lookout in the crow's nest spots a pirate ship on the starboard bow, and the two below who have successfully lifted the barrel up to the deck drop the barrel and run away in fright.
